Equality & Diversity
Cymdeithas Tai Clwyd is committed to developing, ensuring and promoting equality and diversity for all in our capacity as an employer and as a service provider.
What is equality?
Equality is about fair access to services and employment opportunities. This does not mean treating everyone the same, but means recognising the differences and taking their needs into account.
What is diversity?
Diversity is about creating and sustaining a culture that seeks to respect and value difference. This involves respecting the rights of others and promoting equality and tolerance amongst different communities.
Providing excellent service
We recognise that to provide excellent services to all, services should be built around a robust analysis and understanding of different needs to ensure that our services, facilities and resources are accessible and delivered for the benefit of everyone.
Zero Tolerance
We recognise that certain groups and individuals are more likely to be discriminated against. This may be on the grounds of age, disability, gender re-assignment, marriage and civil partnerships, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex, sexual orientation, or other personal attributes. We are committed to zero tolerance and eliminating all forms of unfair discrimination and promoting equality among staff and service users.
Working in Partnership
We are members of the North Wales Registered Social Landlords Equality Partnership (NWREP), a partnership of North Wales based Housing Associations, namely Cymdeithas Tai Eryri, North Wales Housing, Clwyd Alyn Housing Association (a member of the Pennaf Housing Group) and Wales & West Housing Association. The North Wales Race Equality Network (NWREN) is also a member of the Partnership.
We are also members of Tai Pawb, an organisation that promotes equality and social justice in housing in Wales. Tai Pawb believes that all people have the right to access good quality housing in cohesive and safe communities.
You can download Cymdeithas Tai Clwyd’s Equality and Diversity Policy summary at the bottom of this page. This outlines our commitment to providing equality of opportunity and valuing diversity.
Equality Impact Assessments (EIA) is a tool we use to identify the impact our policies, services and functions may have on our service user and staff. It is expected that an equality impact assessment will be completed on every new policy or when reviewing a policy, and is considered on all development or alteration to properties. You can download the list at the bottom of this page.
